Abstract
This study assessed the influence of level stress on mental health of PNP PCOs as basis for mental health intervention plan. To ensure a comprehensive analysis and presentation of results, the researchers used mixed method research. Specifically, sequential-explanatory design was adopted. 365 Police Non-Commissioned Officers and 65 Police Commissioned Officers were requested as respondents. The qualitative phase of study requested 10 participants with the highest scores or rating mental health. Survey questionnaires and semi-structured interview were used as instrument of the study. Weighted mean and thematic analysis were applied for interpretation. Results show that Police personnel are stressed on social related issues (M=4.47) and feel a lot of stress on work related issues (M=4.52).
Mental health of police personnel got a mean of 4.06 on realization of own potential with belief in the dignity and worth of self; 2.98 on coping abilities; 4.02 on belief in the worth of others and 4.09 on productivity and community contribution. In addition, stress level of police personnel exerted significant influence on their mental health based on its t stat of 2.394 p value of 0.0184. Lastly, Embracing Optimistic Mind and Harboring Network of Support are ways of police personnel to sustain mental health. A proposed mental health program is crafted based on the findings of the study.
