Abstract
ABSTRACT

This study evaluated Tuguegarao City Fire Station’s fire safety and preparedness by evaluating 75 respondents directly involved in fire management, covering prevention, suppression, investigation, and prosecution. Using a mixed method, the study delved into current practices for fire prevention, suppression, investigation, and prosecution. Quantitative data from surveys employed a weighted mean and a five-point Likert Scale. For fire prevention, findings highlight the effectiveness of BFP Tuguegarao City Fire Station’s measures, reinforced by support during Fire Prevention Month and creative initiatives like the “Berong” mascot and OLP Program. The evaluation of fire suppression reveals a moderate agreement among respondents, emphasizing rapid mobilization, though volunteer participation needs improvement due to budget constraints. The evaluation of fire investigation efforts shows a moderate consensus, with well-trained personnel and collaborative efforts enhancing investigate quality. Respondents express a favorable opinion regarding prosecution performance, attributed to systematic protocols outlined in the BFP Operations Manual.

To implement recommendations, a Technical Working Group (TWG) led by the City Fire Marshal will be established. A Command memorandum circular (CMC) will guide the TWG, focusing on three action plans: enhancing program implementation, strengthening partnerships, and engaging the community. Strategy will be evaluated through a fire station assessment to enhance BFP Tuguegarao City’s capacity for a fire-safe community.
