Abstract
ABSTRACT

This study analyzed the challenges encountered by Bureau of Fire Protection
(BFP) personnel in managing the internship program for Bachelor of Science in
Criminology (BSCriminology) students in Nueva Ecija. The assessment focuses on four
main areas: challenges faced by BFP personnel, resource management, hands-on
training, and program structure and implementation. Results reveal that the
implementation of the OJT training policy, as outlined in BFP Memorandum Circular
2019-11, is strongly supported by personnel, with high agreement on its clarity and
coordination across BFP stations. However, challenges persist in evaluating intern
performance due to task diversity and the time-consuming nature of the internship
program, which can interfere with regular duties. In terms of resource management,
BFP facilities are well-maintained, but issues arise with budget sufficiency for covering
necessary expenses. Hands-on training shows strong positive feedback regarding
safety measures and mentorship, though there is a need for improved equipment and
facilities to better support practical training requirements. The program structure is
praised for its effective coordination with academic institutions and the progressive
learning experience provided to interns, but there is room for improvement in
communicating clear objectives and goals. Overall, while BFP personnel generally
agree with the effectiveness of the internship program, they face significant challenges
related to time management, resource allocation, and performance evaluation. These
findings highlight the need for targeted improvements in budget allocation, resource

9
management, and communication strategies to enhance the internship experience and
better support both interns and BFP personnel.
