Abstract
These days the popularity of online gaming is increasing and will continue to rise. This reality puts the youth at risk of being victims of cyberviolence. Thus, actions are needed to address these concerns knowing that the online world will continue to grow and, if not adequately addressed, may become an avenue for social problems. This research was conducted to understand better the cyberviolence exposure of the youth in online gaming, such as cyberbullying, phishing, and exposure to inappropriate content. The mixed-method approach and descriptive research design were used in this research. Through the purposive sampling technique, 173 Filipino college students served as respondents. Results of the study showed that the respondents have a slight exposure to cyberbullying and inappropriate content when engaged in online gaming. However, the respondents had moderate exposure to phishing in online gaming. In addition, the respondents perceived that daily playing of high-violence content online video games is an avenue that can make them more vulnerable to cyber violence. The findings now serve as a valuable and reliable guide for public safety practitioners and policy-makers to heighten the youth's awareness about phishing and how to protect themselves from it, develop technological solutions, and continue enhancing legislation to prevent and counter phishing.
