Abstract
ABSTRACT

This action research addressed the factors that affect the operational capability of the newly established Marine Fire Unit at the City of Navotas. Based on the concerns from the Marine Fire Unit 3rd Platoon Alpha Company personnel, it is challenging to respond to any water-related emergencies due to the arising operational issues causing a significant impact on the overall performance and safety of the MFU responders. Problems were due to Lack of equipment, Lack of pieces of training, no Marine Fire Unit
Station, no Personal Protective Equipment necessary for the safety of the responders, no
BFP owned fire boats and rescue boats, no transport vehicle, and No budget allocation for office supplies, and much utilized in land operation than water-related activities. This action research will provide a practical solution to the problems encountered by the MFU that affect their operational capability. As Researchers, we collaborated with the Company Commander of SRF-MFU, 3rd Platoon Leader “A” Coy, and all personnel involved to develop the workable solution they needed to improve.

The primary purpose of this action research is to determine the right tools and equipment to procure, the proper PPE to wear, the provision of marine fire stations, the number of personnel needed, and office supplies needed to address the poor performance of the Marine Fire Unit 3rd Platoon Alpha Company's in marine emergency response
