Abstract
The study is intended to evaluate the effects of metal health issues encountered by cadets on their academic performance at the Philippine National Police Academy.

Findings reveal that stress related disorder is the most mental health issues experienced by cadets affecting their academic performance, resulting to mental health difficulties. The participants believed that needs for the PNPA to be strict in implementing the Anti=Hazing Law inside the academy.

The conclusions drawn from the findings were: Cadets are prone to stress affecting their performance at the Philippine National Police Academy, leading to poor grades and a lack of academic progress. Anxiety and depression are detrimental to academic and social participation in everyday cadets’ life. They are more vulnerable to the attack of negative emotions that affect their psychological health; the Philippine National Police lacks a comprehensive and consolidated health and well-being framework to enable effective management and support cadets mental health; it is the primary concern of the PNP to ensure the heath and morale of cadets at the Philippine National Police including both physical and psychological health. The proposed action plan geared towards in addressing the mental health issues of cadets at the Philippine National Police.

Based on the foregoing conclusions, the following recommendations are herby submitted: the need to provide trauma and stress counseling and treatment for lower class cadets, who may not be able to cope psychologically with the strain of training; PNPA cadets must resort to guidance counseling quarterly to ensure well-being of all cadets in the academy; the need for psycho-social assessment and intervention among cadets at the academy to ensure metal stability towards the enhancement of their academic performance; the need to focus on designing a program to reduce stress and enhance cadets well-being for a better academic performance; there is a need for the PNPA to develop a new curriculum, the inclusion of mental health in its Program of Instruction. This will promote the well-being of cadets away from stress, anxiety or depression at the academy; and, the researchers strongly recommends the adoption of the proposed action to promote the mental well-being of cadets, to avoid stress experience of cadet in order to promote their academic achievement.
