Abstract
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

This study examined the Public Safety and Security of Urdaneta City, Pangasinan which covered the following: Basic Key Leaders Information, environment, Socio Cultural, Transportation, Legal/Law and Order, Economics, AFP, PNP and other LEAs/Allied Agencies, Political and Scientific and Technological, thus known as BEST LEAPS. Upon examination, the study is consequently focused on the transportation of Urdaneta City, Pangasinan.

Urdaneta City is one of the fastest growing cities in Pangasinan. As the city’s population and economic activities continue to expand, so does the complexity of its transportation network. Ensuring the safety of all road users – drivers, passengers and pedestrians alike – is paramount to maintaining the quality of life and fostering sustainable development. This study provides an overview of the current state of road safety in Urdaneta City, highlighting key challenges and strategic interventions aimed at reducing accidents and enhancing overall traffic management.

Based on the data gathered, the findings of the study showed that the city of Urdaneta aims for optimal condition of rad safety through its implementation of national traffic laws and localized ordinances however the city is faced with challenges with the multitude of factors influencing safety from infrastructure to vehicle design to human behavior. Moreover, there are five recorded casual factors of road traffic incidents in Urdaneta City, Pangasinan such as driving under influence of alcohol, tailgating, reckless driving, over speeding and hit and run. All of which can be categorized as human factor. In addition, there seems a need to increase the level of awareness of road users to reduce the traffic incidents in Urdaneta City, Pangasinan.

The researchers propose to device a scheme to initiate a platform to raise awareness on road safety and instill traffic specifically to address the main cause of the vehicular incidents in the which is the driver. Thus, a Citywide Road Safety Week shall be rigorously observed in Urdaneta City with emphasis on Awareness, Behavior Modification and Assessment (ABA).

This study concludes by providing a proposed action plan to reduce traffic incidents, to improve traffic management and safety and emergency responses and to ensure better enforcement of traffic laws.
