Abstract
This paper explored the Philippines’ CCT program and public safety and security, particularly in the area of crime occurrences. The study utilizes selected barangays in San Jose Del Monte Bulacan as research site. Using data of DSWD on number of CCT beneficiaries and police records on occurrences of crime, these two sets of data were quantitatively analyzed using descriptive statistics correlation analysis. Moreover, qualitative data was gathered via key informant interviews and focus group discussions using an open-ended questionnaire. The quantitative and qualitative results were triangulated to form a mixed research approach, the result of which became the bases of recommending policy enhancement on the CCT program. Among the recommendations set forth are: include the PNP in the roster of partner agencies of DSWD in relation to the CCT program, include penalty provisions for proven law violators committed by CCT beneficiaries, and consider humanitarian reasons when formulating guidelines for penalty imposition.
