Abstract
The study determined the factors relating to the Emergency Medical Service (EMS)
response performance of Koronadal City Fire Station in Koronadal City, South Cotabato.
The study used the descriptive research design. The respondents of the study were the 39
personnel of the BFP in Koronadal City. In the data analysis, frequency and percentage
were used. Results revealed that most of the BFP Koronadal City personnel are male.
Majority of them are 31 years old. The average Emergency Response Time for the BFP
Koronadal is 5-6 minutes . Most of the BFP personnel in Koronadal City are
non-graduates of health related courses/programs. Most of them have undergone
Emergency Medical Response/ Basic Life Support (EMR/BLS) training. The BFP
Koronadal has inadequate equipment for emergency response. Further, the qualitative
response emphasizes the need for additional equipment and supplies. Further, they do not
experience inadequacy in the availability of ambulances, but some of the qualitative
response mentioned the need for additional and state-of-the art ambulances. There is a
need for additional personnel who are adept with health care knowledge and skills. The
BFP Koronadal may sustain its commendable Emergency Response Time, continue
providing its personnel with relevant and timely training on EMS, acquire additional,
high quality, and state-of-the-art equipment, invest in new, fully equipped, and
state-of-the art ambulances, and request medically inclined personnel.
