Abstract
ABSTRACT

The Researchers, deployed at Datu Saudi Ampatuan, Maguindanao, observed that fellow firefighters are exposed not only to fire-related injuries and health risks but also to safety and security reasons.

RA 11589 establishes a Security and Protection Unit (SPU), whose task is to protect the firefighters on the field, while investigating and in other performance of their duties. The provision says the SPU shall be provided with appropriate equipment.

Security Problems in Datu Saudi Ampatuan. After decades of conflict across Mindanao, the creation of Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) consisting of five Muslim-majority provinces in 2019 was a major step towards peace. Various levels of government and civil society then rolled out various programs to disband armed groups and create new roles for former guerrilla fighters. But three years after the creation of the BARMM, the results are mixed. Efforts to decommission some 40,000 Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) combatants, along with their weapons and camps, have fallen far short of the original goals. Meanwhile, the persistence of armed extremist groups, including those aligned with ISIS, threatens a fragile peace and has deterred others from giving up their arms (Ingram, 2022).

The researcher utilized the three audiences in action research - first, second and third person inquiry in gathering data for this action research project. For first person inquiry, we based on our observations, reflection and analyses of what was really the on-going issue in the organization.

The researchers utilized Bandura’s Reciprocal Determinism. The researchers believed that through reciprocal determinism, we learn from our environment, including the behaviors we see in our society. The way we think, feel, and react to this environmental input shapes the way we act. Since the Municipality of Datu Saudi Ampatuan is the seat of various critical areas, the researchers deemed it to react, by increasing the safety and security protocols, to protect fellow BFP personnel responding to fire related incidents.
