Abstract
Cybercrime is the most prevailing crime in the present time which causes a severe loss to the innocent victims. Therefore, some measure should be taken by Philippine National Police to prevent this crime. This study on the Operational Capability of NEPPO in Anti-cybercrime Activities in Response to RA10175 otherwise known as “Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012”, is a one of the baseline on addressing the rising cases of cybercrime in the Philippines.

Using mixed method of research which utilized quantitative and qualitative method, the anti-cybercrime unit investigators themselves assessed their operational capabilities and shared their challenges on anti-cybercrime activity at Police Provincial Office of Nueva Ecija.

The study revealed that the cybercrime investigators barely meet the standard in cybercrime operations in uncovering patterns and anomalies, identifying hidden connections, and proactively detecting threats; spanning numerous investigative domains and examining countless threats in a single-pane-of-glass view; and finding encryption of files used by the suspect, among others. These challenges led of confidence on the performance of their duties due of lack of training and expertise. Thus, intervention program on the enhancement of the potential of PNP personnel to anti-cybercrime activities is highly recommended.
