Abstract
This study was conducted to identify the extent of the border control checkpoint’s structural challenges and implementation gaps that influence the success of its installation in various selected location in Misamis Occidental in terms of the three areas namely Contingency and Standard Operating Procedures, Physical Features and Attitudes on the location of the established checkpoints. Stratified random and convenience sampling were used and a mixed method was employed. Based on the results, it was found out that there is slight improvement needed on public awareness and cooperation, quarantine classification policy and coordination mechanisms; and improvement on planning BCC elevated platform. There was a significant difference on the responses in terms of the extent of BBC implementation in the context of a Health Outbreak. PNP length of service and age are determinants in understanding BCC implementation in terms of gaps, challenges and issues of inadequacies. Negligible relationships also surfaced between the extents of Border Control Checkpoint implementation effectiveness across all variables. The researchers therefore recommend to strengthen provincial-wide dissemination and intensification of info-drive across all platforms on health outbreak campaign and the prevention of criminalistics activities; monitor the progress and performance of implementers on law enforcement awareness, safety and security and mitigations; maintain and continue Border Control Checkpoint improvement on security, current set-up, innovations, best practices; create permanent main ingress points, devise sound plan program for health outbreak mitigation; and provide financial and logistical support for Border Control Checkpoint structural design improvement through construction of elevated platform and installation of CCTVs and scanners.
