Abstract
This study utilized both qualitative and quantitative approaches through a survey of 200 samples, selected through proportionate stratified sampling in identifying the perceived effects of work-related stress on the personnel of PRO MIMAROPA Mobile Forces who are assigned and operating in Mindoro Island. The sample size yields a statistical power of .99.
The study found that the respondents are rarely affected in terms of Emotional/Affective, Mental/Cognitive Aspect, and Physical/Health Aspect while others are never affected in terms of Spiritual/Moral Aspect Comparative analyses reveal that there are significant differences in the aspects of emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual aspects when they are grouped according to some profile variables.
Further analyses reveal that those respondents with Master’s Degree have lower effects of stress in all the areas of emotional, mental physical and spiritual when compared to those with Bachelor’s degrees only. Also, the respondents who have the rank of Police Staff Sergeant are affected the most spiritually/morally by stress compared to the rest. It may also be gleaned that the higher the ranks, the lesser that they are affected by stress morally/spiritually. The study shows that the respondents are experiencing other work-related stress eon Interpersonal/Social aspects such as Family Problem, Homesickness, poor work relationship, impulsive, financial problem, difficult to manage time for self and family, over work, social isolation, unable to identify and perform what is priority and inability to communicate properly.
The study further recommends the adoption of a proposed Stress Management Program that is aimed to preserved and enhance the healthy well-being of PMF personnel.
