Abstract
This study examined the impact of leadership behavior and organizational
commitment on the security management practices of jail officers at the Polomolok
Municipal Jail. A descriptive correlational research design was used, with 34 jail personnel
participating as respondents. The Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire, Organizational
Commitment Questionnaire, and a security management practices questionnaire were
administered. The results indicated a moderate level of leadership behavior among the jail
officers, which shared that there is room for improvement. Organizational commitment
was found to be at a high level, with affective commitment being the highest and
continuance commitment being the lowest. Security management practices were rated as
high. Pearson's r correlation analysis revealed significant positive relationships between
leadership behavior and security management practices (r=0.60, p=0.002), and
organizational commitment and security management practices (r=0.53, p=0.016). The

findings recorded that enhancing the leadership behavior and organizational commitment
of jail officers can lead to an improved security management practices in correctional
facilities. Recommendations included were providing leadership training, reviewing and
improving of the benefits and career development, and evaluating regularly and revisiting
security management practices.
