Abstract
The study delved into the level of political governance, through effective collaboration, in the context of the management of Butuan City Jail. This was measured in terms of BJMP effectiveness, regulatory quality, rule of law, and voice and accountability This also encompassed the identification and assessment of the different political governance issues and concerns. The explanatory sequential research design was utilized. The first phase of the data collection was through the distribution of survey questionnaires to existing BJMP Butuan City personnel. The second phase was completed through the conduct of interviews with the key officers of BJMP as well as their partners in the public and private sector. Results revealed that the level of political governance was high on all components or parameters. This was attributed to the active programs of BJMP Butuan City wherein they are maintaining linkages with various groups and/or organizations. There were also identified issues and concerns on: (a) changing levels of stakeholder engagement; (b) management and availability of resources; (c) issues on communication channels and sharing of information; and (d) concerns as to alignment of goals and priorities.
