Abstract
This study focuses on the wellness programs conducted in the 11 jails of the Central Jail Sectors. Forty-three (43) respondents answered using wellness health dimensions’ instrument by Vedic Healing. Key Informant Interview (KII) was used by the two (2) Regional Health Officers and nine (9) Jail Health Unit Officers in establishing the factors that contribute to the current health status of the personnel. While Focus Group Discussion (FGD) method with the eleven (11) Wardens was utilized in formulating or proposing a jail based Integrated Workplace Wellness Program.
The study answered the following issues on:
1. What is the health status and lifestyle of the jail members of BJMP-NCR Central Sector Jails?
2. What factors contribute to the current health status of jail personnel in the Central Sector Jails?
3. What intervention programs can be proposed to formulate personnel – jail based integrated workplace wellness program?

Analysis shows that the on-going wellness program in jails varies according to the Warden’s choice of preference or personnel recommendations, proving no evidence of improvement on the health status and well-being of personnel as its main objective.
Results dictate that wellness program in the Central Sector Jails was purely designed on BODY aspect of wellness. Yet, turned out to be the lowest scored points by the respondents compared to the MIND and SPIRIT aspects which were not given much attention, but appeared to be more balanced.
Notwithstanding the management’s efforts to attune the personnel physically, obviously, central sector jail managers failed to complement its purpose for several respondents failed to meet the required physical measurement standards, especially on waist circumference, body mass index and biochemical profile.
It mapped the activities in jails mostly focused on BODY dimensions disregarding the MIND and SPIRIT aspects, causing failure to reach the optimal level of wellness of personnel.
In general, very few respondents met the optical level of wellness covering the three (3) major aspects on BODY, MIND and SPIRIT health wellness. This analysis calls for extra-mile challenge to improve the state of well-being of the Central Jail Sector personnel.
