Abstract
This study dealt with the problems affecting the capabilities of the Camarines Sur Provincial Forensic Unit Scene of the Crime Operations. This employed the descriptive survey method of research with questionnaires as the man data gathering instruments. This was answered by 274 respondents who were composed of ninety-eight (98) personnel from Police Provincial Office of Camarines Sur, one hundred twenty-one (121) Investigator-on-Case and fifty (55) Barangay Officials randomly selected in jurisdiction of Camarines Sur. Data were statistically analyzed and interpreted. The null hypotheses were tested a 5% level of significance.
Findings revealed that manpower, logistical support and observing the procedures were affected the conduct of Scene of the Crime Operations. The respondents significantly differed in their assessment of manpower’s capability to conduct, observe the procedures, and document the criminal investigation. They too differed in their assessment of the logic support. The findings revealed that there is no significant difference in the respondent’s assessment regarding the extent effect of manpower, observing procedures and logistic support in the process of conducting criminal investigation.
Based on the finding, it is recommended to increase manpower support in the Camarines Sur Provincial Forensic Unit Scene of the Crime Operations, grants scholarship seminars and additional training abroad or those conducted in the country, imposed sanctions to late submission of laboratory reports, improve logistic support and acquire modern forensic equipment and facilities.
