Abstract
Pensioners in the Philippine Coast Guard face difficulties with the pension system. The PCG pension system is experiencing backlogs, implying that the system is unable to meet demand. These problems led to slow transaction, data loss, and the failure of the failure of the records management systems. This is because of the manual process used in their pension system. Most of the pensioners encountered by the PCG-PGMC rated the management as unsatisfactory. This was the outcome of the client feedback form provided by the PCG-PGMC.
An explanatory sequential mixed method research design was used for this study. The material provided in response to the study questions, which addressed undiscovered facets of a phenomenon, was given in both numerical and narrative formats. The innovations methodology employed in this study was centered on digitalizing the Philippine Coast Guard Pension System’s record management and enhancing PCG-records PGMC’s management. A researcher-made survey questionnaire and in-person interviews were used to administer the study to 30 randomly chosen PCG pensioners and 5 PCG-PGMC employees to determine the respondents’ opinions and the difficulties they had managing the PCG pension system’s records. The survey is given to retirees in Metro Manila and at the PCG-PGMC office in Manila.
The Implications of the findings of the study were the PCG should concentrate on how to address the challenges faced by PCG pensioners in the record management of the Philippines Coast Guard Pension and Gratuity Management Center to improve its services. With regard to the improvement of the current PCG-PGMC service personnel and PCG pensioners. This will alleviate the burden of the challenges caused by manual processing, which may result in service delays. Furthermore, the digitalization of the PCG pension system’s record management will strengthen services not only at the local but also at the national levels.
