Abstract
“Prevention is better than cure. it is better to stop something bad from happening than it is to deal with it after it has happened”. Prevention/deterrence of crimes is one of the concerns of PNP’s Public Safety and Security Programs to implement in their area of responsibility. This thesis on Determinants of the Compliance on the installation of Closed-Circuit Television cameras of commercial establishments in Malabon City aimed at determining the factors affecting the compliance of its installation, identifying its level of effectiveness in the promotion of public safety and security, and determining the issues and challenges encountered in its installation. The study adopted the descriptive method of research using quantitative approach to test or confirm theories and assumptions through utilization of survey questionnaires participated by 150 respondents from the groups of PNP, Barangay Officials, and Commercial establishment Owners distributed using Proportionate Stratified Probability Sampling. CCTV cameras are vital tools that help prevent crimes. It is therefore imperative that Commercial establishment owners shall install CCTV in their respective establishments and PNP with the collaboration of the Barangay officials and support of the City Government shall conduct regular monitoring of the functionality of the existing CCTVs and mapping of the establishments without CCTV installed in their area and endorse the list to the City Government for the possible mandate of the installation of CCTV of all commercial establishments in the city.
