Abstract
The Philippine National Police recorded an increasing trend of reported rape cases from 2011 to 2015, with 832 cases in the year 2011 to 2010 cases in the year 2014 which pushed the researchers to analyze the status of rape cases in the Province of Pangasinan in the year 2016-2018 wherein the following information were gathered and analyzed the common rape cases in Pangasinan for the period 2016-2018, the age and status of the victims, whether the reported rape cases were filed in court or not. The study also gave light to the common problems encountered by the WCPD Investigators when handling rape cases. The 48 WCPD Investigator respondents also gave the action plan recommendations in order to have a more effectiveness handling of rape cases in Pangasinan.
Results of this qualitative-content analysis case study will be beneficial to the various components of the Society, specially the government and the PNP as they strive to make our communities be a safer place to live, work and do business.
The plain, incestuous and statutory rape cases in Pangasinan are closely in number to the rape cases reported in the regional PNP where young girls, teenage ladies, adult women and even female senior citizens are raped. Some victims file complaints but not all cases are filed in court.
The researchers recommend a thorough review of the suggested action plan presented in this paper for possible implementation.
Further research, studies and evaluation of the other factor involving rape cases must also be taken into consideration.
