Abstract
This study assessed the organizational performance of the Directorate for Integrated Police Operations – Southern Luzon (DIPO-SL) as basis for the adoption of the proposed Area Police office in the aspects of leadership initiatives, personnel empowerment, facilities development and mission execution. The primary data sources were 12 police officers and staff of DIPO-SL through key informant interviews. The interviews were conducted in February 2021.
Based on the findings of the study, the following conclusions were drawn: 1.) The effective organizational performance of the Directorate for Integrated Police Operations – Southern Luzon (DIPO-SL) can be attributed to good leadership, competent personnel and properly performed missions. However, facilities are needed to complement the performance of the organization. 2.) The main problems affecting the organizational performance of the Directorate for Integrated Police Operations – Southern Luzon (DIPO-SL) are due to the limited support available for the leadership, limited personnel, need for improved facilities, and lack of support in attaining the objectives. 3.) The main proposals include strengthening the operational capacity of the leadership of DIPO-SL, increase the number of personnel, provision of proper facilities, and proper support to attain the objectives. 4.) An action plan is proposed based on the results if the study entitled Action Plan to Strengthen the Directorate for Integrated Police Operations – Southern Luzon.
Based on the conclusions of the study, the following are recommended: The leadership of the DIPO-Southern Luzon must introduce programs and initiative that can be sustained even after the term of the Director. The DIPO-SL must conduct coordination activities involving the personnel in collaboration with the military and other law enforcement agencies to maximize learning. The DIPO-SL must address the issues of leadership. The DIPO-SL may use as input the results of the study in the move to approve proposal for the establishment of Area Police Office (APO).
