ABSTRACT

This action research aimed to address the delay in the release of the 20% Local Government Unit (LGU) share from the collection of Fire Code Fees of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP). As of this date, the released 20% LGU share is from the years 2010-2013 only. For the fire code fees collection on years 2014 onwards, reconciliation of deposit and collection is still on process thus no released yet. This is mainly due to discrepancies from the records of the BFP and the Bureau of Treasury (BTr). Collaboration and interfacing were conducted to resolved the issue. It was found out that discrepancies emanate from the remittances made by the BFP personnel particularly the Collecting Officer (CO) and Collecting Agent (CA) handling the collection. The bureau initiated interfacing, seminars and lectures to CO and CA to further address the unreconciled accounts. It was sought to build collaborative relationship between the BFP and BTr to have the records reconciled. This had a productive result thus lessening the discrepancies of the two bureaus.
