Abstract
This Research Study pertains to the Lived Experiences of Drug Surrenders Rehabilitation through CARROTTS in Caloocan City. It seeks to assess the lived experiences of drug surrenders in the conduct of the “CARROTTS” program in Caloocan City. Specifically, this study aims to assess the current status of the program as to training program, inter-agency support, evaluation and monitoring and sustainability. This action research adopts the qualitative design utilizing the exploratory sequential method. Guided questionnaire was formulated and was utilized in both Key Informant Interview and Focused Group Discussion. There are twenty 27 informants purposively chosen in this study with ten (10) of them are drug surrenders who graduated the program. Thirteen (13) themes were developed in this study. Five (s5) Themes emerged in the assessment of the program. In Training program, the themes are: A big help, A changed for the better. In inter-agency support, the theme is tools and visitation are means of assessment, and in Sustainability, the theme is keep going take the challenge. Four themes were also developed on the challenges based on the given variables. For training program, the theme ends in collaboration. While in evaluation and monitoring is Work and other reasons hinder completing the program, and for sustainability, the theme is many are still in the dark. For recommendations themes were also developed in each challenge. Institutionalize improve and cascade aftercare, whole of stakeholders’ approach, Go gets them complete the work and Inspire others to join the call for a change are themes developed for the training program, inter-agency support, evaluation and monitoring and sustainability, respectively. The program owing to its unique features has been proven to be effective, spiritually motivated and sustainable. Through polishing on stakeholders’ coordination, aggressive information campaign and aftercare may the program complete.
