Abstract
ABSTRACT

The Standards of Physical Examinations are prescribed to secure efficiency and uniformity in making the physical examinations as well as the reporting of the findings. Medical examiners were tasked to always apply the standards with the objective of hiring, promoting, and retention in the fire service individuals who are physically and mentally fit and who are expected to remain so in the performance of duties.

The medical / dental examination is part both of the hiring process and the promotion of the BFP personnel. The conduct of medical / dental examination is primarily used for safety in the BFP. Usually, the personnel may not be aware of the health condition, and the benefit of the examination brings this health condition to the attention of the personnel. It enables the personnel to take necessary precautions to correct health concerns and qualify for promotion and training in the service.

The Policy Analysis Triangle was employed. The objectives in planning the prospective evaluation of this research were formulated in consonance with the Smart Goals Framework. ORJI (Observation, Reaction, Judgment, and Intervention) method was also utilized.

There are factors that affect the implementation of medical and dental profiling. To begin with, the organizational structure in which Health Service does not have a clear direction as to the responsible individual. In addition, at present Health Service Personnel have multiple designations. Furthermore, the organizational culture in which the program focus may be affected due to the prioritization of the command group/management. Moreover, strong leadership is needed to implement, operational planning on the data management after profiling in which the medical records of personnel were clattered and neglected. Furthermore, resource allocation in which if we are to implement this program will be costly and at some point, Health Service needs to delimit its budget compromising some of the systems of the program.

As an intervention we propose, accompanied by the results coming from the interviews of various medical staff collaborators, an action plan be adopted by the BFP to improve the implementation of the medical/dental profiling of the BFP personnel.
