Abstract
Importance of Body-Worn Cameras in police operations

Recent publication Have portrayed police shootings and deaths in police custody as a frequent fixture in news articles and the media. Protests have also become visible in response to law enforcement (LE) related deaths and the perception of scarce plice accountability grows.

In the united states, public attention on the use of lethal force by law enforcement (LE) personnel, particularly within minority communities, has surged in recent years following multiple high-profile cases involving the killings of unarmed black men and youth by police. Concern over these cases fueled nationwide protest in 2015, including some incidents of civil unrest and the rise of the black live matter movement.

Public sentiment amplified as visibility of news articles and social media postings on police operations gone viral coming from the civilian population also surfaced. A significant shift in the portrayal of law enforcement activities and the growing concerns on the legitimacy of some has brought concerns on accountability and transparency of government in its mandate to enforce the law while protecting the right and liberties of citizenry. It can be noted that as early as 2016 when newly elected Philippines president Rodrigo Roa Duterte announced his campaign against illegal drugs has caused the surrender of thousands of person who used drugs (PWUDs) and the death of ssome nearly 6,000 deaths relative to the intensified police operations against drug personalities across the country. Human rights activists say that the president’s merciless action against drugs and continuous speeches threatening to kill all of the sons of bitches who are into drugs could see him charged, the Sydney morning herald reported.

Less fortunate outcomes. Cases such as these often spark public concern, particularly those in which law enforcement personnel seem to be at fault and are often highly scrutinized. These incident are also used to analyze the safety and effectiveness of police procedures and training. As shown in figure 1, the Philippines rank first with the highest number of police killings in the world and reflects only drug cases.
