Abstract
INTRODUCTION
Maguindanao Maritime Police Station is stationed at Polloc Port, Parang, Maguindanao and formerly under direct control and supervision of Regional Maritime Office – 12. In the year 2007, the station was detached from RMO – 12 and became the regional office of RMU – ARMM. In year 2008, from being the regional office of RMU – ARMM, the same was reverted into maritime station under direct control and supervision of RMU – 9. In the year 2009, the station’s name was changed into Maritime Mobile Squadron under direct control and supervision of 9th MaritimeMobile Group. In the 2021, there was a realignment of stations wherein the supervision and control over the station was transferred to Regional Maritime Unit 12. In the year 2014, the supervision and control over the station was once again transferred into Regional Maritime Unit-ARMM.
Pursuant to Republic Act No. 11054 otherwise known as “An Act Providing for the Organic Law for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao”, the political identity of Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) was repealed and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (BAR) government set in. The said act expands the territorial jurisdiction if the Region. Among other cities and municipalities, Cotabato City became part of the BAR Region. Thus, the (Cotabato City) 1203rd Maritime Police station under RMU 12 was transferred to Kalamansig Municipality. On the other hand, the Cotabato MPP was created under the direct control and supervision of Maguindanao MARPTSA. Cobatato City is the area of responsibility of the said MPP.
At present, Maguindanao MARPTSA holds office at MB Kalanganan, Cotabato City since the said area has a river where the issued watercraft may be berthed safer and more convenient than in the Sea water of Polloc, Parang, Maguindanao. Moreover, Cotabato City is the center of the area of responsibility of Maguindanao MARPTSA; hence, it is more strategic to hold office therein, in order for the office to give an immediate response to any emergency calls that need police interventions
